Are you making plans to head to Santa Catalina for surfing or diving at Coiba National Park? We would love to introduce you to a brand-new luxury hotel nestled on its own secluded beachfront just outside of town
Catalina’s Hideaway is an eco-aware beachfront space with great music, food, and flow. The lavish casitas & treehouse are nestled on 2.5 acres of pristine coastline, where the jungle meets the ocean. This hotel is on the way to the popular surf and dive town of Santa Catalina but also hidden where travelers can immerse themselves in the undisturbed nature of Panama. With over 50 solar panels, grey water reuse, and a recycling program, this hotel boasts some of the best sustainability practices in all of Panama.
Canadian owners, Ryan Somes and Anthea Stanley, left their high-profile finance jobs back in Toronto to build their dream hotel on the Pacific Coast of Panama. The couple spent over two-years exploring Central America for their perfect beachfront location before landing just outside of Santa Catalina in 2013. A couple of kids, a cross-continent move, and 7-years later, this spot is now known as “Catalina’s Hideaway”. As adventure seekers, avid travelers, foodies, and music lovers, you can see that Ryan and Anthea put their hearts and souls into every aspect of this hotel.
With 9 rooms and 5 room types, travelers can pick their pleasures and their price point. From the 1000-square-foot super luxe beachfront casitas, to an elevated jungle treehouse with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, garden casitas; or the super cute “Bellwoods Inn”, which is comprised of four rooms with private screened-in patios overlooking their 1-acre freshwater pond. Many of the rooms feature beautifully designed outdoor garden showers and eclectically decorated interiors. All of the rooms have memory foam beds, private patios, A/C, hot water, minifridges, complimentary coffee, tea, and organic locally made soaps and shampoos.
Dinning at Catalina’s Hideaway is another unforgettable experience in their open-air beachfront Restaurant & Bar called “Sobremesa”. The cuisine highlights a locally and sustainably sourced philosophy with fresh fish, meats, and an array of vegan and vegetarian options. Sip on one of their signature cocktails while sitting in the infinity pool overlooking the beach. And for the wine lovers, you will be pleased to see these Canadian owners have brought a fantastic wine list to this hidden gem sitting on the edge of the Earth.
